21st february – snow science & mountain safety day

EUR 155.00

On-snow training day

Join a full day dedicated to snow science and understanding the snowpack, led by a UIAGM mountain guide who is also a specialist trainer on the subject. This day is designed for skiers who want to deepen their knowledge to move more independently and safely in off-piste terrain.

The day will start with an ascent in the Brévent area, followed by a short ski touring approach to get away from the marked slopes. The snow-science workshops will then take place in off-piste terrain, directly on-site, for a hands-on and educational approach.

Program:
Ascent and summit access by gondola
Ski touring approach to leave the marked ski area
Hands-on snow-science workshops in off-piste terrain
Work on terrain reading, snowpack analysis, and conditions assessment
End of the on-snow portion around 3 PM
Then meet at the Orage shop for a snack and a collective wrap-up focused on snow science

  • A fully immersive day dedicated to snow science in real mountain conditions, to better understand what lies beneath your skis.
The goal is not only to learn theoretical concepts but to observe them directly in the field.

A short ski tour will allow the group to leave the ski area and reach suitable zones for observation: reading the snowpack, analyzing its different layers, understanding how it evolves, and what that means for off-piste skiing and ski touring.
